Each row: BTC moved that day by coins that had sat still that long, as a multiple of a normal full day, and their average profit or loss. Moved isn’t always sold: exchanges and wallets moving their own coins count too. Times in UTC. Not a forecast. Source: over21million.com · x.com/@over21m

Pick an age group to see its running total. This day closed at 00:00 UTC on Mon, Oct 26, 2026, so the page doesn’t check for new blocks.

    How to read it

    • The headline is picked by rules from the numbers. First comes a block that moved 100 BTC or more of coins that had sat still 8+ years, on a day that group is above its normal range. Then, after about an hour of blocks, the age group furthest above its normal range. Otherwise it’s a quiet day.
    • Each row is one age group, by how long its coins had sat still before they moved. The bar is the BTC it moved as a multiple of a normal day by the same time of day (a normal full day once the day is over): the tick is the median day (1×) and the grey band is the normal range.
    • Blue bars moved in profit on average, red ones at a loss. The percentage is the group’s realized profit or loss against what its coins were worth where they last moved.
    • Pick a row to see its running total through the day: the day in blue, the day before in grey, the normal range shaded and the median day dashed.
    • Notes add records (“the most for a day since…”, only when that day is at least 30 days back), runs of days above normal, and the run of days in profit or at a loss.
    • Each day keeps its own page for a year after it closes at 00:00 UTC, with the same numbers against a normal full day. The day links above the card step through them.

    Method and limits

    • From my own Bitcoin node: the coins spent in each block, in ten groups by how long they had sat still, with the profit or loss realized at that block’s price. It’s the same data as the age bands on Live charts.
    • A normal day is the middle 80% (10th to 90th percentile) of the 365 full UTC days before the day shown, each measured at the same time of day. Days with fewer than 100 blocks are left out as likely gaps in the data.
    • Coins created before 2012 have no price record and use a placeholder price, so the oldest groups’ profit and loss are approximate.
    • “Moved” means spent on-chain. Exchanges and custodians moving their own coins count too, so moved is not the same as sold.
    • Days run from 00:00 to 24:00 UTC by block time, which miners set and which can run a little ahead of the clock.
    • Not a forecast.
